"Stars in our Southern Firmament" map, and music for "Our Country's Voice" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Freedmen’s aid societies played a central role in uplifting formerly enslaved persons, with a strong focus on education. Christian organizations comprised of both Black and white members were at the heart of this endeavor.

Freedmen's Aid pamphlet: light soiling, edge and corner wear incl. light chipping and some creasing. Holders of Doctorates: some wear to cloth, dustjacket with scattered holes, wear and some loss to edges, large dampstain on spine. Text very good. Freeman's I Hindman strives to describe historic materials in a manner that is respectful to all communities, providing descriptive contexts for objects where possible. The nature of historical ephemera is such that some material may represent positions, language, values, and stereotypes that are not consistent with the current values and practices at Freeman's I Hindman.
